In keeping with our commitment to make the world a better place by supporting sustainable causes, Sunfood Nutrition™ is proud to announce that a portion of all sales will be donated to a fantastic nonprofit organization, called The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF), that is planting fruit tree orchards to heal the earth and improve nutrition for needy families all across the world. Sunfood Nutrition™ is proud to help FTPF expand its programs and reach new heights.

In 2002, David Wolfe founded FTPF with the goal of inspiring like-minded individuals to plant 18 billion fruit trees on planet Earth to improve the soil, water, air, and nutrition for all living creatures. Today, FTPF strategically donates orchards where they will most benefit communities, at places such as homeless shelters, drug rehabs, low-income neighborhoods, and international hunger relief sites.

In the summer of 2007, FTPF launched an innovative program to distribute tens of thousands of fruit trees from its new nursery in Kenya, free of charge, to needy families, public schools, and orphanages in the Tana River Delta Region. In Northern India, FTPF launched a program to distribute trees to 200 needy families every month. The trees will provide essential, life-saving nutrition for starving families. The director of an Indian hunger relief group that received more than 250 trees from FTPF wrote: “For us and for our children, FTPF’s orchard donation to supplement our hunger relief efforts will literally save lives.”

FTPF also has exciting domestic programs, including “Reservation Preservation” to help low-income communities on Native American reservations. With Sunfood Nutrition’s support, FTPF created two community orchards for the Havasupai tribe, located near the base of the Grand Canyon in Supai, Arizona. The reservation has no roads leading in and is thus difficult to supply with a consistent source of fresh produce. The village is often referred to as the most remote in the country, requiring that the hundreds of trees be airlifted down via helicopter. In conjunction with the Havasupai Tribal Administration, FTPF established community fruit tree orchards which are open to all members of the tribe, and planted the remaining trees in residential backyards to provide a healthy source of improved nutrition for decades to follow.
