Cacao Butter for the Skin

When applied to the skin, cacao butter is a powerful natural moisturizer. It can help repair chapped skin and lips and prevent dry, itchy skin. The antioxidants in cacao butter help protect the skin from free radicals that can damage skin at the cellular level.

Cacao Butter as a Food

Cacao butter can also be used in all sorts of raw food creations and culinary delights. Simply replace the oil you would normally use with cacao butter. We recommend warming up cacao butter so that it becomes liquid. To melt cacao butter, place it in a bowl in your dehydrator with the temperature set at around 98 degrees, or you can place the bowl in hot water.

Cacao Butter is packed with antioxidants including polyphenols, catechins, and epicatechins, that help to fight off free radicals. Cacao butter also contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These so-called “good fats” can actually help to lower cholesterol.

Clean and microbe-free, cacao butter offers a powerful boost of phenylethylamine (PEA) and anandamide, which can elevate our mood and boost positive feelings. Most other cocoa butters are exposed to temperatures as high as 300 degrees Fahrenheit during processing, but our cacao butter’s temperature is never allowed to exceed (or even reach) 120 degrees. A high-accuracy thermometer is used throughout processing to ensure this quality and standard. No chemicalsor solvents, such as hexane, are used at any point of our process.
