Failed GMO Amendment Had 93% of Public Support – How Did Your Senator Vote?

As the saying goes, “If they’re so proud of their GMOs, they should label it.” Here at Sunfood, we support complete transparency for food labeling, whether it’s a GMO or non-GMO product. This week,

The start of the 2012 summer is cloudy, thanks to the failure of the Sanders/Boxer GMO labeling amendment inclusion to the 2013 Farm Bill. Voted down 26-73 in the Senate, the amendment that proposed labeling of all food with GMOs had little chance of passing, thanks to the heavy lobbying by the major processed food industries, and companies such as Monsanto. See how your senator voted:

Food labels allow consumers a choice, supporting their right to know if the food they’re buying has been genetically modified or not.  Over twenty states have introduced GMO labeling bills over the last twelve months. Here in California, the Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act is coming to vote in California this November. Sunfood fully supports this measure, which would require simple labels for foods made from genetically modified ingredients.
