Sunfood Macadamia NutsIntroducing our brand new Macadamia Nuts! Did you know that macadamia nuts have B vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium and manganese? Yes, they’re delicious and healthy, too!

What about those fats, you ask? The theory of eating fat and packing on the pounds is a myth—as long are you’re eating the right fats, that is. And macadamia nuts have the right fats, meaning that science has proven the health benefits in clinical studies.

Weight Control
A study conducted on Japanese women found that after three weeks, “bodyweight and body mass index were decreased in the group fed macadamia nuts.”1 The beneficial effects that nuts have with weight management is no secret in the scientific community; one clinical review of 31 studies found that “compared with control diets, diets enriched with nuts did not increase body weight, body mass index, or waist circumference in controlled clinical trials.”2

Heart Health
That study on Japanese women we just mentioned? Researchers also found that the results for the women eating macadamias showed “total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol [LDL – bad cholesterol] were significantly decreased.”1

Yet another study was conducted on men and women who were mildly hypercholesterolemic, meaning they had a mild excess of cholesterol in the bloodstream. Just like in the Japanese study, the subjects eating a diet rich in macadamia nuts had lower cholesterol levels, leading researchers to conclude that “macadamia nuts can be included in a heart-healthy dietary pattern that reduces lipid/lipoprotein CVD [cardiovascular disease] risk factors.”3

Brain Power

Sunfood Macadamia NutsMacadamia nuts have omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids. These fats are classified as “essential” because you’re body can’t produce them on its own; they must be obtained through food. Omega-3s are especially important because your brain craves them. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, “symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation.”4 So make sure you’re getting your omega-3s!

We know we don’t have to tell you how irresistibly delicious macadamia nuts are. But did you know that you can use them to make a raw vegan cheese substitute? Check out this amazing recipe…
