Our organic, raw mulberries are succulent, tart, chewy sun-dried berries that originate from deciduous trees in a Turkish village (Dut = Mulberry in Turkish). They come from fast-growing trees that reach about 35 feet tall. The mulberry tree is known as the “wisest of trees”, as it traditionally waits to put out new leaves in Spring until all frost is over. The White Mulberry also has great importance in the production of raw silk, as the leaves of this tree give strength and provide the staple diet of the silk worm.

| Benefits | Mulberries are an amazing source of Vitamin C, iron, and calcium and fiber, and protein. Consumption of foods rich in vitamin-C helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents, counter inflammation and scavenge harmful free radicals. Mulberries are a source of iron as well, which is rare among berries. Iron is a part of hemoglobin inside red blood cells, and helps determine the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Along with goji berries, they are one of the few fruits in the world to be thought of as a good source of protein. One ounce provides approximately three grams of protein that is easily assimilated! Mulberries are also high in a longevity antioxidant called resveratrol, which is found in the skin of red grapes and is in red wine. Mulberries are unique also because they are rich in B-complex group of vitamins and vitamin K. Contain very good amounts of vitamin B-6, niacin, riboflavin and folic acid. These vitamins are function as co-factors and help body in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. |
