Description

Lion's Mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) has the unique ability to stimulate the production of a substance known as Nerve Growth Factor, or NGF. This specialized protein is necessary for the growth of sensory neurons, and studies have shown that extracts of this mushroom promote myelin sheath growth on nerve cells. The myelin sheath is closely associated with the transmission of nerve messages, and research suggests that Lion's Mane may even help to slow the progression of degenerative neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease. Even for those in good health, Lion's Mane may provide an additional cognitive boost, helping us meet high demands on our concentration and intellect.

Lion's Mane has also been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to address ailments of the digestive tract. The polysaccharides found in Lion's Mane (like those found in other medicinal mushrooms) have also been shown to have immune-enhancing properties. The studied active molecules of Lion's Mane have been named: hericenones and erinacines. Our Lion's Mane consists of 15% beta glucans.
