Description
All chocolate comes from cacao, or cocoa, as it is more commonly known. Cacao is the seed (nut) of a fruit of an Amazonian tree that was brought to Central America during or before the time of the Olmecs. Cacao Beans were so revered by the Mayans and Aztecs that they used them as money! When in its pure, raw form, cacao is one of nature’smost fantastic superfoods. The secrets to chocolate’s incredible health benefits are unlocked when it is eaten in its raw, unheated state.
The Sunfood Difference
Our raw, organic cacao products come from hand-selected 100% Cacao beans. Most other cacao products are exposed to temperatures as high as 300 degrees Fahrenheit during processing. Our cacao processing temperatures are never allowed to exceed 120 degrees. A high-accuracy thermometer is used throughout processing to ensure this quality and standard. No chemicals or solvents, such as hexane, are used at any point of our processes.

I must be on a different planet, as I think these taste horrendous! Bitter, Bitter Bitter. But, I can suffer through a few a day for the nutritional fx, and I think they do work as an appetite suppressent. (Posted on 8/26/12)Rating - A nice healthy snack. Review by theman

I'm trying to loose some weight, and I'm sure the cocao beans will help. These are by far the best cacao beans I have ever had, my wife loves them as well. (Posted on 6/20/12)Rating - Too much Omega 6s Review by Rob

I love raw cacao. I chew them plain sparingly. However, I do worry about the high Omega 6 content. There's warnings out there, that having too much Omega 6 (inflamation) over Omega 3 (anti-inflamation) can be troublesome. So still hesitant on overeating these. I have tried several brands of raw cacao beans and I must tell you these are the best tasting! Not too bitter, flavorful, and just delicious! (Posted on 2/29/12)Rating - amazing beans Review by smrky

I have a bean or two in between meals to keep me from snacking. I eat them like a lozenge taking my time to gently peel the skin off (once it's soft it comes off easily and I'm sure is very healthy as well), then I suck on the naked bean until it becomes soft. I can make a couple of beans last an hour or more if I'm patient which is a great way to not eat too much.Rating

I like all of the cacao products, but this one if my favorite. When you take off the skin, most of them are still purple inside. The beans are so much tastier and richer than the nibs and the powder. They blend well in my cocoa drink that I make in the morning. Highly recommended. (Posted on 10/13/11)Rating - yum Review by crazed by cacao
