When he’s not surfing or running on the beautiful shores of Hawaii with his dog Chloe, fitness trainer Troy Manandic is teaching workouts online and in-person. He believes in eating whole, natural foods to fuel his active lifestyle. Consuming the right balance of nutrients helps to boost my mood, perform better athletically, and overall feel my best throughout the day!

How important is nutrition to your overall health and wellness?

Good nutrition helps to support both mental and physical health. It also gives my body all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals it needs to work its best.

What activities do you love to do during the day that require a lot of energy?

As a fitness coach I’m always active, teaching LIVE-streamed sculpt and HIIT classes 5x a week on my fitness site (

When I’m not teaching or at the gym, I love surfing, hiking, or running along the beach with my dog Chloe.

Do you believe accessibility and simplicity is important when it comes to nutrition?

100% agree to this. Accessibility and simplicity to nutrition is keeping foods minimally processed, and eating whole foods that were born by nature. Fruits, veggies, nuts, whole grains, healthy proteins. It also helps to support healthy eating habits and can lower the risk of non-communicable diseases (such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease), and longevity.

Tell us about your top 3 superfoods that fuel your active and busy lifestyle.

I love anything matcha so my first pick is the Matcha & Mushrooms blend. It helps to kick-start my morning while nourishing my body and balancing my metabolism and energy levels.

Any advice or messages of encouragement for others struggling to find simple ways to ensure proper nutrition?

Surround yourself with people who make you feel good about you - no matter what your size or health condition. In addition, if close friends encourage you to smoke, overeat, or drink too much, find some new friends who have good health habits and also want a healthier you.

Be gentle and patient with yourself… If you slip up and overeat, drink too much, or fail to exercise. Don't beat yourself up! Give yourself permission to enjoy a few indulgences occasionally, it’s OK. If you start to feel guilty, remind yourself of the intent of your goal and let your why carry you to continue on step at a time.
