Sunfood Moringa Powder is a complex superfood that both nourishes and detoxifies the body. Moringa leaf powder is a whole food, so its abundant nutrients are easily absorbed and used by the body, making it one of nature's most nutritious superfoods. Moringa powder all contains all nine essential amino acids; making it a complete protein. It improves mental clarity, supports the immune system, and increases energy.
Where does Sunfood Moringa Powder come from?
Organic Moringa powder is made from dried organic leaves from the Moringa oleifera tree, native to South Asia; A fast growing tree now grown throughout the tropics. It has been used as both a food source and a supplement for at least 4,000 years. Because it proliferates, Moringa can be quickly produced in impoverished areas to boost people’s nutrition levels, and its leaves can be harvested year round. These leaves are packed with vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids. Unlike many vegetative superfoods, it is high in protein – with nine times the protein of yogurt.
These precious leaves are harvested and dried out of direct sunlight so that the naturally occurring nutrients are preserved at the highest level. They are then crushed to create the soft, fluffy powder we use today. It takes about seven pounds of freshly harvested leaves to produce one pound of organic Moringa leaf powder – thank goodness these trees grow easily and quickly.
Sunfood Moringa Powder does not contain ANY additives, fillers, or preservatives. Our Moringa is low temperature processed, which preserves all of the delicate nutrients as the leaves are ground gently into a fine powder.
Moringa Powder Health Benefits
Moringa contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, calcium, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus, which all contribute to increased energy levels. Fatigued? By weight, moringa has three times the iron in spinach, seven times the vitamin C in oranges, over 300% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin A, and 468% of the recommended daily amount of iron, which all support the reduction of fatigue and tiredness.
It is rich in antioxidants and vitamins A, E, and zinc, promoting healthy skin and hair. With all nine of the essential amino acids our bodies need but cannot create, Moringa also protects against cell damage from free radicals and is a natural plant source of cytokinins, a group of hormones with anti-aging properties.
Moringa also supports healthy management of diabetes. A study at the University of Tokyo in 2006 found that Moringa powder lowered blood glucose levels in diabetic rats. This may be associated with its high fiber content – more in fact, than oats – without the impact grains may have on blood sugar levels. Increased management of blood sugar levels could also be attributed to Moringa powder being rich in antioxidants, such as chlorogenic acid, which has been found to slow cells’ absorption of sugar and found to lower blood sugar levels on its own. Moringa may also help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
For those with digestive problems, Moringa may help your symptoms as well. Not only is it an easily ingestible form of dietary fiber, but it also contains isothiocyanates. These helpful nutrients are anti-bacterial, helping the body rid itself of H. pylori, which may be responsible for ulcers and gastritis. It also provides high contents of fatty acids, helping to fight inflammation in the body and gut.
How to Introduce Moringa to Your Daily Diet
By weight, moringa has four times the calcium of milk, four times the beta-carotene of carrots, three times the amount of iron in spinach, seven times the amount of vitamin C in oranges, three times the potassium in bananas, and more fiber than oats. It's easy to see why you should add Sunfood Moringa Powder into your daily nutrition.
To enjoy a delicious Moringa drink, merely mix half a teaspoon into hot water and add honey or lemon to taste.
Since most of us don't have access to the fresh leaves, the powder is an easy option to get all of the benefits of these powerful super leaves. Blend Moringa powder into your favorite smoothie or soup for extra nutrition and a robust "green" leafy flavor.
A teaspoon or two is a good daily intake for most people. As with many potent herbs and superfoods, we suggest starting slow and letting your body adjust to the powerful potency. Because Moringa is water soluble, it can easily be boiled in water or dropped into soups or teas, and the body will retain all of the nutritional benefits.
